The Governor’s Industrial Safety and Health Advisory Board is accepting nominations for the 2017 Governor’s Lifesaving Awards. All workers within the state of Washington covered by the state workers’ compensation system or a self-insured employer are eligible.
To be eligible, a worker must have performed a lifesaving action. For law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical technicians and other similar professions, the lifesaving action cannot be part of their normal job responsibilities but must be above and beyond the call of duty.
The awards are presented to workers in Washington who saved a life in the past 12 months. The heroic act must have occurred during work hours. The incident must have happened between June 1, 2016 and May 31, 2017.
