NSC Safety Show Opens in Anaheim

The 2016 National Safety Council Congress and Expo is being held in Anaheim from October 15-22. The theme of this year’s event is “Make Building a Safer Workplace a Reality”, and features over 1,000 exhibitors, more than 100 professional development seminars, 10 keynote speakers and an executive-edge track, giving attendees access to unparalleled resources to improve safety.

“With workplace deaths at their highest level in nearly a decade, safety professionals look to best practices, innovative products and world-class education,” said Deborah A.P. Hersman, president and CEO of the National Safety Council. “The goal of the NSC Congress & Expo each year is to provide the tools and training to ensure organizations develop a culture of safety excellence.”

Keynotes for this year’s event include Terry Bradshaw, former NFL quarterback and sports commentator, Juliann Sum, chief of Cal/OSHA, Kevin Foust, police chief and director of security at Virginia Tech, and Charlie Morecraft, president and CEO of Phoenix Safety Management and motivational speaker.
On Tuesday, Oct. 18, Dr. David Michaels, assistant secretary of labor for OSHA, will make a special announcement.

Topics include:
• Workplace violence planning and management,
• Occupational fatigue,
• Legally addressing marijuana in the workplace,
• Legal and effective incident investigations and
• Making the financial case for safety

OSHA also will announce its annual list of the Top 10 most cited violations for fiscal year 2016.
