The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is at a scene investigating an incident involving a construction worker who figured in a work site incident in Brooklyn Friday morning.
According to reports, the worker fell into a 15 foot trench while on a job related task at a construction site on East 49th Street and Ruthland Road in Brownsville at around 8:30 in the morning. The FDNY were alerted of the construction incident and immediately rushed to the scene. Responding rescue units pulled the man out of the trench and transported him to the Kings County Hospital where he is said to be in critical condition. Rescuers said, the man was found at the bottom of the trench and was breathing when they arrived at the scene.
Initial reports reveal, a truck hits a suspended cable line which caused a pole to come down, knocking the construction worker into the 15 foot trench.
A representative from the safety watchdog said they will remain at the scene and will look into the construction incident for any safety lapses. The identity of the injured construction worker was not disclosed pending investigation.
The company involved in this incident did not give any statement into the incident.
