Metro-North Worker Severely Injures Leg in an Incident Involving Electric Maintenance Cart

A Metro-North employee seriously injured his legs after he was involved in a work related incident on a track at the Grand Central Station Wednesday afternoon.

The worker was said to be operating an electric maintenance cart by track 104 when the incident happened at around 3:40 in the afternoon. According to reports, the worker’s leg was wedged between a pole and the cart he was operating between Track 103 and Track 104.

Emergency units were alerted of the incident and immediately rushed to the scene. Upon arriving at the site, emergency responders brought the man out and his legs were bleeding profusely. The victim was immediately brought to the Bellevue Hospital where he was said to be in stable condition.

Witnesses said the man was screaming when the incident occurred and eventually fainted due to the pain he had endured.

The management of MTA did not provide any details on the victim’s injuries. The identity of the worker was not released. Authorities were at the scene to conduct an investigation into the incident.
