A Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) worker figured in a work related incident in the Red Line subway on the Near North Side, severely injuring him Thursday.
The CTA employee was said to have fell from a ladder near the North and Clybourn station, prompting officials to suspend the Southbound Red Line service to 95th Street. Emergency crews were alerted of the incident and immediately rushed to the scene. They then removed the injured worker and transported him in fair-to-serious condition to the Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
Up to two hours of delay were reported after “switching problems,” caused trains to be rerouted on several CTA lines.
Delays were experienced on the Brown, Green, Orange, Purple and Pink Lines. Switching issues were also reported in the Loop area at the Lake and Wells Intersection around 8:45 in the morning.
Authorities are investigating the incident. No other injuries were reported.
