11 contract workers were reportedly injured at the Axiall Corporation’s Natrium plant in West Virginia early Tuesday morning.
According to the company, the incident happened at around 7:00 in the morning in the power plant of Axiall Corp in New Martinsville, W. Va. In a statement, the works were immediately sent to the hospital for treatment. Eight of the 11 workers were released in the afternoon, while the remaining workers were released on Wednesday. The coal-fired boiler was shut down but operation at the plant remains.
The Atlanta-based chemical manufacturer which makes chlorine, caustic soda and hydrochloric acid said that an investigation into the incident is being conducted.
